Come join the Lake Hopatcong Boat Parade
The Jefferson Arts Committee will host its second annual Lake Hopatcong Boat Parade on Sunday, June 18, 2006 – Father’s Day. Celebrating the incredible boating environment available to the public during the summertime at beautiful Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey’s largest lake, participation in the boat parade is free and open to all boaters who would like to join in the festivities. The only parade requirements are that all boats must have motors able to maintain the parade speed of five (5) mph and must maintain a minimum of two (2) boat lengths distance between participating boats. Although decorations are not required, all participants are highly encouraged to decorate their boats in the theme of “Welcome to Summer”.

The parade will start at the North end of the Lake (off the Mason Street Pub) and all participating boats are asked to congregate there by 11 AM. The parade will take approximately two (2) hours. The route will pass under the Brady Bridge, proceed along the western shore to Bertram’s Island, and then return along the Eastern shore to end at the Lake Forest Yacht Club. Due to the height restrictions, sailboats are asked to join the parade, under power, on the south side of Brady Bridge.

Prizes will be awarded for three (3) boat categories -- Best Decorated, Best Classic & Most Original; and judging will be done at the reviewing stand at the Lake Forest Yacht Club. All participants are invited to gather at the Yacht Club after the parade for the awarding of prizes, and refreshments will be available there. Due to limited dock space, participants are requested to travel to the Yacht Club via car after the paradePlease contact Jefferson Arts Committee members Kathy & George Damerel at 973-697-8898 or gdamerel@yahoo.com for further details.
